Foundation Day celebration and Prize Distribution

ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal celebrated its 34thFoundation Day on 21stSeptember, 2017. Dr. K.M.L.Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, UPPDUPVV, Mathura was the chief guest and Dr. R.S. Gandhi (ADG, AP&B, ICAR) and Sh.Umesh Kumar Sharma (DGM, Canara Bank, Karnal) were the guests of honour on this occasion. The prestigious Dr.P.G.Nair Award for scientific contribution in the field of identification, evaluation, characterization, conservation and utilization of livestock and poultry genetic resources of the country during last 3 years (January, 2014 to December, 2016)was conferred upon Dr. Rekha Sharma (Principal Scientist, Core Lab). The best workers in technical and administrative category were Sh. Om Prakash and Sh. Jita Ram, respectively. The contribution of livestock keepers in conservation of diverse breeds from different livestock species was acknowledged by bestowing them with Breed Conservation Awards. The winners of various competitions organized during “Hindi Pakhwada” were also awarded. This was followed by the release of the eighth edition of Bureau’s Hindi Magazine “Pashudhan Prakash” and best articles published in the last issue of the magazine were also awarded. The programme ended with an inspiring Foundation Day speech by the chief guest, Dr. K.M.L. Pathak.
