Tecnology 11 - Indian Milch cattle breed verification kit
1. | Technology introduction and description: In addition to morphometric characters of a breed the known genetic architecture of breed ascertains the purity of breed, which enhances its value as well as the product value resulting in benefit to the farmers/breeders. 8 highly polymorphic microsatellite loci were able to discriminate Sahiwal, Gir and Tharparkar animals. These loci were chosen from a battery of 84 loci. A multiplex PCR kit (8 microsatellite loci primers tagged with different dyes) developed to perform the PCR reaction in a single tube. This kit can be used to genotype Sahiwal, Gir and Tharparkar animals with 100% accuracy for farm bred population and about 90% accuracy for field samples.
